FAQ

Questions we
get a lot.

Straight answers, grouped by what people actually ask before switching processors. If your question needs a number we haven't published, we'll point you to a written quote instead of guessing.

Pricing & contracts

Why don't you list your rates on this page?

Because what you’d actually pay depends on your card mix, acceptance method, ticket size, MCC, volume and underwriting, a published rate wouldn’t reflect your real cost. Request a confidential statement review and we’ll put a customized proposal in writing — no verbal promises.

What pricing structures do you offer?

Interchange-plus, flat, and tiered structures — whichever fits your card mix and ticket size best. Interchange-plus is the most itemized: interchange and card-brand assessments appear separately from the processor markup, each disclosed as its own line.

How long is the contract, and what if I need to cancel?

CardConnect requires a standard merchant agreement, and month-to-month may be available for lower-volume accounts, subject to underwriting. Term length and early-termination terms depend on your setup — that's exactly the kind of detail we put in writing rather than promise generically. Ask us for the quote and it'll be in there.

Are there fees you charge that come as a surprise later?

That’s the point of the written breakdown: interchange, assessments, and processor fees listed as separate lines before you sign anything. Interchange generally flows to the issuing bank; card-brand assessments are separate network fees; processor and other fees vary by agreement and are disclosed in writing.

Onboarding & support

How do I actually get started?

Send the contact form, and email your recent statements to hello@dataplus.us. There is no upload on this website: we review the statements confidentially, use them only to evaluate the account and prepare a proposal, and come back with a written breakdown of what can change and what can’t — no commitment required.

Do you support businesses outside your local area?

Yes — we work with businesses in all 50 states, remote-first: terminal setup, underwriting, and integrations happen without an in-person visit on our end. Opening an account is subject to underwriting approval and to restrictions that may apply by industry or product.

What happens if my terminal stops working or I get a chargeback?

Contact our team and we’ll help troubleshoot the terminal or guide you through the chargeback response. Chargeback outcomes are decided by the card networks and the issuing bank.

Will I have a single point of contact, or a call center?

We handle onboarding and account management directly, from the signed agreement through your first transactions, as agreed in your onboarding plan. Follow-ups come from our team, not a generic queue. Typical timing varies based on underwriting, documentation, hardware availability, integration scope and testing.

Security & hardware

Is my customers' card data actually secure?

Processing runs on CardConnect, which uses tokenization to help keep raw card data out of your systems. Use of validated service providers may reduce PCI DSS scope, but each merchant remains responsible for determining and completing the applicable validation requirements.

Does accepting cards make my own PCI compliance easier or harder?

Using CardConnect’s tokenizer can reduce your PCI scope, because raw card data doesn’t pass through your own systems when it’s implemented correctly. The applicable validation depends on your full implementation; you remain responsible for it, and we can help you understand the process during onboarding.

What hardware do you support?

Clover and PAX terminals, configured for your account before they ship. Which model fits depends on your setup — counter, mobile, or multi-lane — and that’s part of your written quote.

Do you support online checkout, or just in-person terminals?

Both. The CardConnect gateway offers tokenized card-on-file, subscriptions, and a hosted payment page for online sales, alongside Clover and PAX hardware for in-person payments. Connections to your CRM, accounting, or store are defined in a written scope.
